Woodlands is a foundation special school serving nearly 100 children and young people aged 2–19 with complex physical, sensory and medical needs.
About the Role - This is a varied, challenging and deeply rewarding role. You will contribute to high‑quality, individualised teaching and play a key part in delivering a holistic daily programme focusing on independence, postural management and health management.
As a Teacher at Woodlands, you will:
- Plan and deliver individualised learning that meets the complex needs of each child
- Lead and manage a class team, ensuring high standards of practice every day
- Work closely with multi‑agency professionals to support pupils’ physical, sensory and medical needs
- Build positive relationships with families and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Ensure progress is well planned, assessed and monitored
- Contribute to school improvement and lead on a curriculum area
Our pupils have a wide range of sensory needs, so you will be supported to learn strategies that help children make the very best use of their vision, hearing and tactile abilities. Every pupil has an EHCP, and our teaching is responsive, dynamic and always centred around their individual goals.
About You - We are looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Primary teacher, with strong Early Years and Key Stage 1 knowledge
- Skilled and confident in leading and managing a team
- Enthusiastic, flexible and committed to ongoing professional development
- Resilient, positive and ready to embrace the challenges and rewards of special school education
- Able to demonstrate excellent communication with staff, families and multi‑agency professionals
- Experienced in supporting children with complex needs (highly beneficial)

Education, Health and Care Assistant
Salary: Grade C - £17,087 actual salary

28.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:15pm (with 30 minutes lunch break unpaid), 39 weeks per year

Woodlands is a foundation special school serving nearly 100 children and young people aged 2–19 with complex physical, sensory and medical needs.
About the Role - This is a varied, hands‑on and deeply rewarding role. As an EHCA, you will play a vital part in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and independence throughout the school day. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to ensure that each child’s individual education, health and care needs are met. As an EHCA at Woodlands, you will:
- Provide high‑quality classroom, personal and pastoral support to children with complex needs
- Assist with the delivery of individualised learning programmes and therapeutic activities
- Support pupils’ physical, sensory and medical needs, including using specialist equipment
- Promote independence, communication and engagement throughout daily routines
- Contribute to postural management, mobility, sensory regulation and health management plans
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, families and multi‑agency professionals
- Help create a positive, safe and nurturing learning environment
Our pupils have a wide range of physical, sensory and communication needs. You will receive full training to use specialist strategies, equipment and approaches that enable pupils to access learning and develop confidence, independence and wellbeing.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with complex needs, nurturing and able to build positive relationships. You should be a strong communicator, emotionally resilient, flexible, and committed to high standards of care and safeguarding. A willingness to learn is essential — experience in special needs settings is helpful but not required, as full training is provided.
