Assessments & Results
Woodlands school undertakes rigorous assessments of all pupils' skills and learning on a regular basis.
Attainment Comparisons and Curriculum Breadth
All pupils are set challenging targets, which are supported by national guidance expectations. We always expect pupils to achieve well in relation to their own starting points. Over time we plot out a child's expected learning trajectory and compare this with their progress to check they remain on track to succeed. Where a pupil's progress dips below our expectations, we rigorously investigate the cause of this and where necessary use personalised interventions to support learning until it improves.
Overview of assessment at Woodlands
Our results over time are shown in the linked documents below and these give information for the last three academic years. As our cohort sizes at the end of key stages are very small, the data is all anonymous.
A summary of the current year's evaluation and actions to be undertaken by the school are also included.

More information can be found on the Department for Education's School Performance website.
Cohort sizes are all under 10 pupils so results are not published.

Destinations After Woodlands
Many of our young people decide to stay on through the sixth form and transition to other colleges to continue their learning. Some young people transition during their education, often to attend mainstream placements and occasionally, other special school settings. For greater detail on destinations, please open the document below.
Key Stage 1 and 2 National Test Results
No pupils in KS1 or KS2 sat the statutory assessment tests in 2024. No pupils would have been able to access the tests due to their individual levels of attainment. The Standards and Testing Authority (STA) are normally informed about the results at both Key Stages.
Key Stage 1 Results
All KS1 pupils were achieving within the 'Seven Areas of Engagement' or the 'Pre-Key Stage Standards' in 2024.
No pupils sat the Phonics Screening check
Key Stage 2 Results
All KS2 pupils were achieving within the 'Seven Areas of Engagement' or the 'Pre-Key Stage Standards' in 2024.
Key Stage 4 and 5 Test Results and Accreditation
No pupils gained any GCSE qualifications in 2024 but most students gained one or more AQA units award in Life Skills, Arts or Core subject areas or ASDAN awards in Transition. Four students gained Entry Level qualifications between L1 and Level 3 in English and Maths.
At Woodlands, we offer a wide range of accredited courses for learners. These are chosen to meet the learning aspirations of young people and give them opportunities to explore different aspects of learning at an appropriate level. All young people access accreditations at either Pre-Entry, Entry or Level 1 as appropriate. Where a learner may have the ability to achieve at a higher level, we work closely with partner schools to facilitate this.
The document below shows the range of courses currently on offer.
